Godfrey Hirst Corsica Herringbone
Real timber has a warmth and a depth of grain that nothing else quite matches. It is the one floor people still run a hand along. We carry engineered oak and hardwood, which is genuine timber on top, bonded to a stable core that copes far better with Adelaide's swing between dry heat and cold snaps than a solid board ever could. It is a floor that adds real value to a home, and one we are always happy to talk through.
Why engineered, not solid?
The multi-layer core is the clever bit. It holds its shape as the seasons turn, so you get the look and feel of solid timber with far less cupping and gapping. Many of our floors can also be re-coated years down the track to bring them back to new. We get into how it stacks up against laminate, hybrid and vinyl in our Hard Flooring Buying Guide.

Plank, herringbone or chevron?
Wide, long planks keep a room feeling calm and open. For something with a bit more occasion, herringbone and chevron parquetry bring that timeless, designer angle. Most of our oak runs from soft naturals through to deeper smoked tones, so there is a match for just about any palette.
Which look suits you?
A few favourites we get asked for again and again:
- Oak. The all-rounder, from pale naturals to rich smoked browns. It suits almost any room.
- Blackbutt and Spotted Gum. Warm Australian hardwoods with lovely natural character.
- Matte, low-sheen finishes. On-trend, relaxed, and brilliant at hiding everyday dust.
- Wide boards. Fewer joins and a calmer, more open feel across a room.

Caring for your timber
Timber asks for very little. Sweep or vacuum regularly, wipe spills before they sit, use felt pads under the furniture, and keep the mop barely damp rather than wet. That is genuinely most of it. The rest is in our care guide.
See it in the showroom
Timber is worth seeing in person before you commit, because grain and tone shift a lot in natural light. Drop into our Gepps Cross showroom for a look, or book a free measure and quote and we will come to you.
